Notice to all Users of Netscape 4.05 or Earlier and Internet Explorer 4.01 for Macintosh

If you process a secure transaction using Netscape Communicator version 4.05 or earlier, or Explorer version 4.01 for Macintosh, you may encounter a dialog box from your browser stating 'Certificate Authority is Expired'. Please click past it to continue with your transaction. The SSL session that secures your transaction with our site is NOT affected - your data will continue to be encrypted as before. We encourage you to complete your orders online via our secure server. The safety of your information is paramount to us. That is why we have devoted a great deal of effort to ensure that our online security measures will safeguard your information.

Secure and Encrypted Communications

All pages on The MNR Store that ask you to provide personal information, including your credit card information, use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL encrypts information transferred between you and The MNR Store and renders it unreadable to anyone other than the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Checking the Security of your Connection

To check the security of your connection, look at the bottom of your browser window after accessing the secure server. Depending on the browser, if you see a closed lock (Internet Explorer) or an unbroken key (Netscape Navigator), then SSL is active. You can also double-check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from http to https.

Problems with Connecting

Some versions of browsers and some firewalls don't permit communication through secure servers. In that case, you'll be unable to connect to the server so you won't have to worry about placing an order through an unsecured connection. If you can't access the secure server for whatever reason, we encourage you to place your order by phone, fax, or mail. If you are unable to access the secure server to renew your Outdoors Card or change your address, please call the Outdoors Card Centre at 1-800-387-7011 to find out about alternative methods.

Privacy

The MNR Store also requires a feature found in most web browsers called 'Cookies'. Cookies allow The MNR Store to keep track of important information such as the items in each customer's shopping cart. If you switch the Cookies function off, the site will not function properly. The Ministry of Natural Resources will not use Cookies to collect information about customers other than that needed to operate The MNR Store.
